Verse 1:
so here he sits
alone as usual
if his smiling face fits
it's only visual
for deep inside 
he's crying again
for all those who've died
'though he can't remember when

Verse 2:
he stares out the window
but sees not today
if you wave hello
his eyes are far away
for he feels no future
and his present is the past
his life is but to remember
and so his fate is cast

the dreams that shaped his life
have all been left behind
two daughters a son and a wife
live only in his mind
what you see is only a shell
of a man who's seen many things through
I shouldn't be sad he's lived well
I just wish there was more that I could do

he goes nowhere 
and hides from himself
he sits in his chair 
like the pictures on his shelf
